
Gateways Music Festival Heads to New York City

The Gateways Music Festival returns to New York City with a celebration of the transformative power of Black classical artistry.
For the purposes of this article only vocal events are included.
Soprano Amber Rogers performs vocal selections in “Celebrating William Levi Dawson’s legacy with word, song, and conversation.” Dr. Louise Toppin lectures and leads the panel and community conversations.
Performance Dates: April 23 & 26 (Eastman School of Music & Carnegie Hall)
Mezzo-soprano J’Nai Bridges solos in the world premiere of Damien Sneed’s “Reflections of Resilience: Five Spirituals,” a Gateways commission. Also on the program is Dawson’s “Negro Folk Symphony” and Dvořák’s Symphony No. 8. Anthony Parnther conducts the Gateways Festival Orchestra.
