Hollywood actor Jean Claude Van Damme sends support for first ever Irish music festival for people with disabilities

THE Belgian actor has voiced his support for a new festival to take place in County Meath this Summer.

The 57-year-old has backed the festival which is the first of its kind in Ireland.

The festival, where services such as portaloos for the disabled, seating adaptations and even a sensory room if the music and lights get too much for those with autism, is expected to host up to 2,000 children and adults.

The event was organised by Kevin Farrell and Shay Casserly, two fathers to disabled children.

Gary Owens, CEO of Down Syndrome Ireland welcomed the festival: "It is great to see a music festival which promotes inclusion for all. We want to thank the organisers of Ablefest for putting together such a fantastic event that every child and teenager can enjoy, including those with Down syndrome and other special needs."

Mr Van Damme heard of the festival from martial arts actor Jimmy Bennett and recorded the clip, supporting the festival and the children to attend it.

One act playing the festival is DJ Andrew Walker who has Down Syndrome and other acts due to play over the weekend have agreed to play for free.
