J. Cole Launches Dreamville Music Festival In North Carolina

This article is more than 5 years old.

After breaking Apple Music and Spotify’s first-day streaming records with his new album K.O.D., J. Cole announced that he is launching Dreamville Festival.

Dreamville Records and Austin-based concert promotion company ScoreMore Shows revealed Friday that the festival will take place in Raleigh on Sept. 15 at Dorothea Dix Park. Festival grounds are located just an hour outside of Cole’s hometown of Fayetteville.

"We've been trying to put this festival together for a few years now," Ibrahim "Ib" Hamad, Cole's manager and president of Dreamville Records, told AP. "It's just hard to come into a city and get the whole city to approve it and (get) behind you. So it was great that we took our time ... and really connected with the city (and) connected with the mayor."

Ticket prices will range from $59 and $99. Cole’s festival venture will benefit his non-profit, Dreamville Foundation, and likely add padding to his the $19 million he earned in 2016.

Cole's festival partner will fair well, too. Dreamville Festival adds to the growing list of properties that ScoreMore Shows has cultivated in recent years. The company, founded by Sascha Stone and Claire Bogle in 2009, produces over 150 club shows a year, as well as Mala Luna Festival and the traveling music festival JMBLYA - each garnering over 25,000 attendees.

No headliners have been announced for the Dreamville Festival yet, but Hamad assures “It’s going to be a variety of different acts that we love or excite us. It’s something we want to build for years and years to come.”
