Polestar Restarts Its European Sales ExpansionPolestar Restarts Its European Sales Expansion
Geely-owned Swedish brand announces sales network to open in France in the second half of 2025.

Polestar relaunches its European expansion plans three years after its push stalled in the face of slowing consumer demand for premium battery-electric vehicles.
The automaker announces it will start selling its range in France, possibly seeing a gap in the market following the sales crash of Tesla on the Continent.
Elon Musk’s brand continues to suffer from his vocal support of Germany’s far-right AfD party seen by many in Europe as a neo-Nazi, Holocaust-denying political movement.
France is the first new market for Polestar in Europe following its entry into Spain, Portugal and Italy in 2022. The automaker will market Polestar 2, Polestar 3 and Polestar 4 models in the country.
The U.K. was the brand’s highest-revenue market last year, edging its domestic market of Sweden into second place with Germany in fourth behind the U.S.
Global sales recovered somewhat for the first quarter of 2025 with sales of 12,304 vehicles, up 76.5% compared to the previous year, albeit before U.S. vehicle import tariffs were announced.
In a company statement, Polestar says its expansion in France will include both direct-to-consumer online sales on top of the addition of several Volvo retail sites across the country. The first outlet is set to open in July in the racing village of Le Mans, followed by up to 10 key cities during the second half of the year.
A nationwide network of more than 100 service points across France will become available and cars will be on French roads by the second half of 2025, says Polestar CEO Michael Lohscheller. He adds, “We are very excited to bring our portfolio of performance EVs to France, one of Europe’s fastest-growing EV markets.”
