IKEA balcony power plants: Affordable solutions now available with discount

IKEA is now selling plug-in balcony power systems in Germany in partnership with Svea Solar. The company claims that these are the most affordable all-in-one solutions on the market with expandable storage. The products allow users to generate electricity for their homes or small businesses, simultaneously reducing reliance on the grid and energy bills.

The IKEA and Svea Solar partnership has been running since 2020, with heat pumps, solar panels and EV chargers already on offer. Now, the companies have teamed up again to offer various plug-in solar solutions. Packages start from €449 or the Stream Complete Set S, which includes the EcoFlow Stream microinverter and two 450W rigid solar panels. 

The Stream Complete Set M, priced at €1,229, adds the EcoFlow Stream Pro Battery, which has a 1.92 kWh capacity and a 1,200W AC output. There is a wide range of bundles and accessories on offer, including a smart meter and a smart plug. According to the Managing Director of Svea Solar Germany, "the system is powerful and ready for immediate use, without complex installation." 

IKEA Family and IKEA Business Network members are offered a 15% discount on their purchases. With this discount, this appears to be the cheapest way to buy these plug-in solar solutions. However, without the discount, it may be worth buying the equivalent kit directly from EcoFlow. For example, the EcoFlow Stream Pro battery and two 450W rigid solar panels are currently available for €1,099 at the brand's online store in Germany. It is unclear whether or not IKEA plans to bring these DIY energy solutions to more markets in the future.
