Festival-goers are being urged to be cautious of health risks at Glastonbury.

The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) South West and Somerset Council have issued a reminder to attendees to be aware of risks including measles, sexually transmitted infections (STIs), weather-related illness and the effects of drugs and alcohol.

Glastonbury Festival is set to take place between Wednesday, June 25 and Sunday, June 29.

Dr Alasdair Wood, consultant in health protection at UKHSA South West, said: "We want festival-goers to enjoy their time at Glastonbury and other festivals this year.

"Being aware of the current health risks will help those attending enjoy their time, as much as possible."

He also highlighted the risk of measles, which is currently circulating across the country.

He urged those not fully vaccinated against measles, mumps and rubella to contact their GP for an appointment before attending the festival.

Dr Wood also warned of an increase in STI cases, particularly among young people.

He said: "Condoms are the best defence, but if you didn’t use one the last time you had sex with a new or casual partner, get tested to detect any potential infections early and prevent passing them on to others.

"Testing is important because you may not have any symptoms of an STI."
