Last-minute preparations are being made to a festival site which will be welcoming crowds of music fans - and VW lovers - from Friday. The Mighty Dub Fest will be back in Northumberland for three days of partying and there will be everything in store from fairground rides to circus skills workshops.

As previously reported, the stunning setting of Alnwick Castle will provide the backdrop to the June 13-15 festival and the site's stage is being set for action, with festival director Katy Emmett saying on Wednesday: "Day four of set-up at this year’s Mighty Dub Fest at the Alnwick Pastures and it’s all going well."

It promises to be a real family affair while a highlight amongst its attractions for all ages will be the VW campervans it celebrates. The Mighty Dub was first set up by Volkswagen Campervan fan in 2010, initially at Newcastle Racecourse but the site could not accommodate dogs or BBQ so it switched location to Northumberland, first to Druridge Bay Country Park before a move to a larger field then it finally found its home at Alnwick.

And it has attracted fellow VW lovers ever since with the vehicles coming over years including vintage Beetles. 1960s Splitty’s to the most modern T6s on the market. Of course you don't have to have a VW to go and the festival really does promise something for everyone, with a non-stop programme of live music including local favourites C-Collective, King Size Voodoo Traveller and Heyzeus, plus music workshops and entertainment including circus acts, dog shows and trade stands.

And there will be a range of street food outlets and bars. Katy says: "We’ve got fairground rides, music acts, wellness activities, crafts, a fire show and so much more as well as over 9000 people attending - also hundreds of VW camper vans and vehicles.

"There’s something for the whole family." And she thanks festival sponsor Alncom, an internet service provider, for a festival first.

"This is the first time since the start of Mighty Dub Fest that we have had broadband on the fields," said Katy, claiming: "this is a first in the music festival world". She added: It’s going be a great weekend.
