Warrior heads to Asia

Ho Chi Minh, the city where the Vietnam War ended 50 years ago, is one of the stops on Warrior King’s upcoming tour of Asia.

The roots singer’s latest overseas trek comprises 14 shows in The Philippines, Hong Kong, Thailand, and Japan.

The tour starts June 29 at The Astbury, a club in Manilla, The Philippines capital. The next day, Warrior King performs at the Trilogy in Hong Kong City, followed by one date in Ho Chi Minh, formerly known as Saigon.

While the reggae scene in Vietnam is not as prolific as other Asian countries, it once hosted the Saigon Reggae Festival which featured mainly homegrown acts.

Warrior King is also scheduled to do two shows in Bangkok, Thailand, followed by eight gigs in Japan, the only country on the tour he has previously visited.

The 45-year-old artiste is looking forward to his maiden shows.

“This is my first time visiting these countries and I’m looking forward to bringing the positive energy and singing some good reggae music,” he said.

Warrior King, who recently completed a South American tour with veteran roots-reggae group Israel Vibration, is best known for songs like Virtuous Woman, Never Go Where Pagans Go, and Can’t Get Me Down.
