Heat persists across Greece with isolated showers in the north

Greece will see mostly clear skies on Sunday, with some afternoon clouds over mainland mountain regions, where brief, isolated showers may occur, the National Meteorological Service (EMY) said.

Temperatures will remain unusually high for early June, reaching 34 to 36 degrees Celsius on the mainland and up to 37 degrees in some inland areas. Island highs will range from 32 to 34 degrees.

Winds will blow from the north and northwest, at 3–5 Beaufort across much of the country and up to 6 in the Aegean.

In Attica, including Athens, conditions will be sunny and hot, with highs around 35–36 degrees Celsius, slightly cooler along the coast.

The islands, including Crete, the Cyclades and the Dodecanese, will remain mostly sunny and breezy.

On Whit Monday, a public holiday in Greece, similar weather is expected, though afternoon showers and isolated storms may develop in central and northern highlands.

From Tuesday through Thursday, a slight drop in temperature is forecast, along with more cloud cover and scattered showers in northern regions. Winds will remain moderate to strong, especially over the Aegean.
