BELGRADE - Addressing the 103rd session of a Serbia-Romania commission on Djerdap, Serbian Minister of Mining and Energy Dubravka Djedovic Handanovic said the two countries were developing important projects for greater energy security.
Djedovic Handanovic said a potential project to build a Djerdap 3 hydropower plant was very important for energy stability, power storage and greater integration of renewables.
She noted that Serbia remained an open and dependable partner and stood ready for strategic cooperation with Romania with the aim of bolstering regional energy security and accelerating green transition.
According to a statement released by her ministry, Djedovic Handanovic noted that it was important that, for decades, the joint commission had been building bridges of trust, stability and a concrete partnership between the two countries.
"Solving practical issues along the common border and promoting regional cooperation in infrastructure, transport, environmental protection and energy is important for developing space for strategic dialogue and concrete initiatives," she said.
She noted that a planned Serbia-Romania gas pipeline would further diversify supplies, integration with the regional and European markets as well as resilience to energy crises.
Romanian Ambassador to Belgrade Silvia Davidoiu said dialogue and cooperation in the field of energy were the most fruitful and the most dynamic sector in bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
