For many people, Turtle Bay has always been famous for its 2 hour Bottomless Brunches, which came with a huge list of different cocktails and a meal to go alongside it. The chain has undergone a huge change recently - and has made more of a move towards a relaxed atmosphere and higher quality drinks.
I was invited by Turtle Bay to try out the brand new breakfast and brunch menu at their branch in Chelmsford. The spot has undergone a big refurbishment recently, and the interior is pretty unrecognisable.
On my trip to visit the new spot, I was taken aback by how lovely the new restaurant looks. The atmosphere is much more relaxed and chilled, but still has the same Caribbean-esque vibe.

With cabana-like decorations and much more muted tones - but still keeping pretty lights and beachy colours - the new spot wouldn't look out of place in Barbados or Antigua. In general, this Turtle Bay looks much more upscale, despite still having relatively affordable brunch and dinner deals!
Turtle Bay has released a brand new menu amid the big change. Its website reads: "At Turtle Bay, bottomless brunch has always been about laid-back get-togethers, great food, and delicious rum cocktails. But now? We’ve taken it to the next level.

"Inspired by the golden age of the Caribbean, where time moved slowly, food brought people together, and dominoes clicked on every street corner. We’ve reimagined brunch to give it even more flavour, depth, and joy.
"The biggest change? You can now enjoy even more dishes, including our most-loved Caribbean mains. Think Jerk Chicken, Curry Goat, Jerk Salmon. Plus, our new and improved burgers and roti wraps are now all served with a side of spiced fries. It’s a full-on island feast, paired with bottomless cocktails, alcohol-free cocktails, and prosecco, of course."
The new breakfast and brunch menu really has something different, and I would say there is something for everyone on there! I opted for the avocado toast with bacon, but there were options from French toast to "full Caribbean" breakfasts, too.

The portion sizes are fantastic, and the avocado and bread were both very fresh. There was also chilli inside the avocado among other spices, which gave it a bit of a kick!
While I did not try any of the new cocktails, the menu is rather exciting. Moving away from the huge cocktail menu that Turtle Bay was previously known for, I was told that the new cocktails are stronger and are made with even better ingredients.
Some people may be disappointed that the cocktail range is not as vast as it once was. However, I think that the condensed menu is a fantastic idea, and will encourage visitors to try out different things!
In summary, my visit to the new and refurbished Turtle Bay in Chelmsford completely blew my mind, as the spot and its menu has been completely reimagined for the good. With healthier options on the menu and stronger cocktails, in addition to the gorgeous new look of the Turtle Bay, I will definitely be returning as part of a night out!
