Glastonbury 2025: Fans left ticketless after luxury glamping firm goes bust
Luxury glamping firm Yurtel has gone bankrupt, leaving many customers without access to their Glastonbury Festival tickets.
The company, which operated for 17 years, specialised in yurts and bell tents. The campsite also offered residents access to a restaurant, cocktail bar, and wood-fired hot tub. While the campsite was situated outside of Glastonbury grounds, Yurtel provided transport to the Pyramid Stage.
Yurtel would secure tickets for the festival by securing hospitality tickets to offer to guests who had booked accommodation throughout the event. However, they did not do this for the 2025 festival despite fans paying them to do so.
In an email sent to customers on May 19th by liquidators, they were informed they couldn’t assist with “any ticket and accommodation bookings” because Yurtel “ceased normal trading operations on May 8, 2025, due to insolvency and will commence formal liquidation shortly”. The email also said: “Tickets to enter the festival have not been purchased on your behalf.”
Customers are also not entitled to refunds as “Yurtel did not hold customer monies in trust” and instead the money “formed part of the company’s operating capital”.
One customer, Alice, spoke to The Times and revealed her father paid £40,000 to Yurtel for three yurts and six hospitality tickets for this year’s Glastonbury. She shared: “If we just lost out on the yurt with a nice bed and a nice shower, that’s fine, but we’d lost our actual ticket. When I found out I just burst into tears. I was at work as well — it was awful.”
Alice continued: “[We’ve been told] you need to get in touch with Glastonbury and see what alternatives they can offer. Apparently, Glastonbury has asked other glamping sites to make additional accommodation available for people affected … but we would have to pay again, roughly the same price.”
In a statement, Glastonbury said: “Anyone who has paid Yurtel for a package including Glastonbury 2025 tickets will need to pursue any potential recompense available from them via the liquidation process as outlined in their communication to you. We are not able to incur the cost or responsibility of their loss or replacement.”
Glastonbury Festival is set to take place from June 27th to June 29th. Neil Young, The 1975, and Olivia Rodrigo are set to headline the Pyramid Stage. Meanwhile, Charli XCX, Loyle Carner, and The Prodigy will headline The Other Stage.
