One of the most watched public fireworks shows in the entire country is getting some national accolades.

The annual Ford Fireworks show in Detroit ranks second on USA Today’s 10Best list of the best places to watch fireworks, second only to Chicago’s Navy Pier.

The 67th Ford Fireworks show will take place over the Detroit River on Monday, June 23 at 10:00 p.m.

Hundreds of thousands of people attend the free event each year, watching from places like Hart Plaza, the Detroit Riverwalk, Belle Isle and Windsor, Ontario.

“The Ford Fireworks show in Detroit is so big that it takes not one, not two, but a total three barges to hold the pyrotechnics,” USA Today wrote. “In addition to the colorful display exploding above the Detroit River, spectators can enjoy live music and plenty of food and drinks each June.”

Produced by The Parade Company, the Ford Fireworks will light up the Detroit skyline for 24 minutes and will also be shown live on WDIV-TV, Local 4.

USA Today has numerous 10Best lists which are first nominated by a panel of experts made up of editors from both USA Today and 10Best.com. The top 10 is then determined by a public vote.
