SOUTHRIDGE, Wash. – A local Southridge High School graduate has successfully completed a cross-ocean sail, marking the end of a nearly three-month journey.

Kimmer O'Reilly, who graduated from Southridge in 2010, embarked on this adventure from Chichester, England, on February 22, 2025. He set sail on a boat he purchased "sight unseen" for about $26,000 through social media.

Despite having very little sailing experience, O'Reilly reached Barbados late last week. His successful journey was the result of extensive research and preparation for his maiden voyage.

Looking ahead, O'Reilly plans to embark on a "nonstop circum-navigation of the globe" in February 2026. This ambitious endeavor is the first of three major expeditions he has planned.
