SOUTH JORDAN – Businesses in Daybreak are hoping the Bees Ballpark will bring them new visitors.
Jess Blakeman, regional manager of The Break Sports Grills, is taking advantage of the new customers in South Jordan.
“Hopefully more foot traffic, bring new experiences to the area,” she said.
The Break has been in Daybreak for more than 10 years, but this is the first time they’ve been neighbors with a home sports team venue. Blakeman said it’s the only full bar in South Jordan.
“We’re doing some hot dog specials,” Blakeman said. “We have a brew from Salt Flats called Bees Brew.”
She said most of the people who shop in this area also live here. She’s excited to have visitors from out of town come and experience Daybreak.
“I think it’s going to bring more baseball fans around,” Blakeman said. “We see a lot of football and basketball.”
Customer Gabriel Beltran lives in Utah County. He’s also a Bees fan.
“Shorter commute for me and being able to be around all these businesses and have the community come together and being able to access a ball field, it’s going to be fun,” he said.
Blakeman said she’s hearing excitement from customers, too.
“Before the game, our patios are open, we’re ready to rock and roll,” Blakeman said.
The grill is less than a five-minute drive from the Ballpark at America First Square.
“Hoping in the future maybe to have some sort of ride service that’ll help take people back and forth,” Blakeman said.
Beltran said he’s eager to see the area, especially the ballpark develop even more.
“I definitely think there’s a lot of work that’s got to be done, but, it’s going to be fun to see where it gets,” he said about the field construction.
There will also be a number of new businesses going into America First Square soon, including a movie theatre, a concert venue, and other spots to shop and eat.
