Regional Officers Prepare For The Hurricane Season

Over 100 military, fire, and police personnel from CDEMA Participating States are engaged in specialised training to enhance disaster response ahead of the 2025 Atlantic Hurricane Season.

Funded by the BRICS (Building the Resilience of CARIFORUM States) Project, the training aims to improve the region’s humanitarian assistance and emergency response capabilities.

The training session concluded on March 30th with thirty-six officers from Barbados. Additional training for forty responders from Guyana, Grenada, Suriname, and Trinidad and Tobago will take place in April and May, followed by another session for thirty-six participants in Antigua and Barbuda from May to June.

Deputy Executive Director of CDEMA, Lieutenant Colonel Kester Craig, emphasised the importance of enhancing disaster response capabilities while Executive Director of the Regional Security System, Rear Admiral Errington Shurland, praised the collaboration between CDEMA and the Regional Security System in civil/military cooperation.
