Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) has been named one of the most beautiful places in the world to visit in 2025.

Time Out is a global media and hospitality brand influencing how tens of millions of people go out around the world, with content covering 333 cities in 59 countries.

Its international network of writers has chosen the 44 most gorgeous places to visit – and the south Powys national park has been ranked sixth beating parts of Australia, USA and South America.

Time Out contributor Daniela Toporok called the “spectacular” Bannau Brycheiniog as “a cathartic, curvaceous wonderland” which attracts hikers from across the world.

The gem of a national park is world renowned for its incredible natural beauty, wildlife and cultural heritage as well as lively market towns like Crickhowell and charming country pubs.

Time Out tells its global reach of readers that Bannau Brycheiniog is one of Wales’ many breathtaking landscapes where you can walk across hills with no one in sight.

The peaks of Pen Y Fan, Corn Du and Craig Gwaun Taf and Waterfall Country, an area in the southwest of the park with more than a dozen publicly accessible waterfalls, draw visitors from far and wide looking to explore the naturally beautiful national park.

Hungry visitors are recommended to drive to Brecon to indulge in some of the best burgers at The Hills restaurant while also taking in the breathtaking views of the Brecon Beacons.

Taking the top spot was Indonesia’s Komodo National Park followed by the world’s largest waterfall – Victoria Falls – straddling on the borders of Zambia and Zimbabwe, and the Punakha Valley in Buthan.

In fourth place was St John’s Co-Cathedral in Valletta, Malta and fifth place is Greenland’s Disko Island.

Southern England's New Forest (9th) and the Scottish Highlands (17) were the only three British places to feature in this year's Time Out ranking.

Last year, Bannau Brycheiniog was named one of the 'must go' places in the world by the New York Times

The New York Times released its 52 Places to Go in 2024 list outlining destinations that are a must for travellers.

The list includes locations in places like Australia, Iceland, the USA and Kenya, while including just two places in the UK.
