An early morning Luxair flight from Milan to Luxembourg on Monday was rerouted to Geneva shortly after take-off in what the airline called a precautionary move due to safety concerns.

A Luxair flight from Milan to Luxembourg was unexpectedly diverted to Geneva on Monday morning due to what the airline described as a "precautionary measure". Flight LG6992, which departed Milan around 8.40am, was rerouted shortly after take-off and landed safely at Geneva Airport in Switzerland. The aircraft involved was a De Havilland Q-400.

Luxair confirmed the incident to RTL on Tuesday, assuring that "at no point was the safety of the 69 passengers on board compromised". All passengers received assistance in Geneva and were able to return to Luxembourg later that same evening.

The airline did not provide further details regarding the reason for the unscheduled landing.
