Antony sends Barcelona message as Man United uncertainty continues - 'it's not impossible'

Manchester United are reportedly confident of cashing in on Antony during the summer transfer window following his performances playing for Real Betis in La Liga

Antony has reiterated his happiness at Real Betis but acknowledges it remains too early to decide on his future.

Since joining the Spanish club in January, he has scored four goals and assisted just as many for his team-mates.

Betis are also on a six-match winning run in La Liga after beating local rivals Sevilla last weekend.

That streak has seen the club rise from the bottom of half the table to sixth, with only goal difference separating them from fifth and a potential place in the Champions League next season.

Next up for them are league-leaders Barcelona this weekend. Antony, however, is unfazed.

"We know they have a lot of quality, but we already beat [Real] Madrid, and it's not impossible to beat Barça," he told journalists after training on Tuesday.

He also reflected on his first Seville derby experience: "The atmosphere the other day was incredible, both the day before in training and during the match. They deserved a win like that. I identify a lot with the fans because of the feeling; we Brazilians are like that, too."

It is claimed by Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo that Antony did not want to comment on his future.

"I'm very happy here," he said. "But it's still too early to decide. I enjoy every day in the Betis shirt."

These comments come after The i Paper claimed that United are confident of recouping £40million for Antony during the summer transfer window.

Atletico Madrid are said to be monitoring the player alongside several unnamed Italian clubs while Real Betis have also made their desire to keep the player clear.

Former Manchester City manager and now Betis head coach Manuel Pellegrini has said so publicly, with their player Isco saying last weekend: "We need to crowdfund so he can stay at least another year."
