MARSHFIELD – A 4-year-old child is seriously injured after a March 30 crash in the town of Marshfield in Fond du Lac County.

At about 6:15 p.m. Sunday, Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Office Communications Center received a 911 call reporting a two-vehicle, head-on crash on County G near County GG.

According to the sheriff's office, deputies responded to the scene alongside St. Cloud Fire Department and Mt. Calvary EMS.

Investigation revealed a southbound vehicle on County G crossed the center line during a curve and struck a northbound vehicle.

The driver of the southbound vehicle was a 26-year-old Illinois woman who sustained minor injuries. Her 4-year-old child in the back seat was transported to Children's Hospital of Milwaukee for a significant head injury.

The driver of the northbound vehicle, a 51-year-old man, and the passenger, a 50-year-old woman — both from St. Cloud — also sustained minor injuries. All three adults were treated at SSM Health St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac.

County G was shut down for about two-and-a-half hours as emergency vehicles responded.

The Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Office continues to investigate. The Illinois woman was cited for operating a vehicle left of center causing injury and for operating a motor vehicle with a child aged 4-8 years old not in a proper restraint seat.

St. Cloud First Responders, Mt. Calvary Fire Department and a City of Fond du Lac Ambulance also assisted.
