A SCHOOL jazz band has wowed fans at a prestigious venue.

Winterfold School’s senior jazz band, the Groove Diggers, performed at the River Rooms in Stourbridge on Wednesday, February 12.

The venue, known for its top-tier sound and lighting systems, hosts celebrated bands and artists from around the country.

The Groove Diggers performed as part of a local youth rock and pop night, showcasing their talent alongside seven other bands.

The group were the youngest band to perform at the event.

Parents in the audience remarked that the night had a nostalgic feel, reminiscent of their own student days.

The band often perform at external concerts and events, having been invited by the Mayor of Kidderminster and Chawn Hill Church in Stourbridge to perform at high-profile community events.

They have also performed at the Upton Jazz Festival, entered the National Youth Music Festival, and recorded a CD at the Metropolis Studios in London.

The group have bagged the National Jazz Partnership Award and have also performed at Symphony Hall and London’s Royal Albert Hall.

Looking ahead, the band has a busy schedule, with performances lined up at the Pen Factory Jazz Club in Liverpool, the King and Castle in Kidderminster, and a series of concerts at their school.
