Faye Dail Hall, American woman detained in Afghanistan for weeks by the Taliban, has been released

An American woman detained in Afghanistan by the Taliban since February has been released, sources told The Post Saturday.

Faye Dail Hall, who was held on charges of using a drone without authorization, was released Thursday as part of a deal Qatari negotiators helped broker, according to a source who briefed on the matter.

Hall was in “good health” after undergoing a series of medical exams when she was received at the Qatari embassy in Kabul, the source said. Arrangements are underway to return her to the United States.

“American citizen Faye Hall, just released by the Taliban, is now in the care of our friends, the Qataris in Kabul, and will soon be on her way home,” said Zalmay Khalilzad, a former U.S. ambassador to Afghanistan, in a post on X.

“Thank you, #Qatar, for your ongoing and steadfast partnership. #USA #Afghanistan.”

Hall is believed to be the fourth American released from Afghanistan since January.

Earlier this month, George Glezmann, an airline mechanic from Atlanta, was freed after more than two years in custody.

Adam Boehler, an envoy to President Donald Trump, and Khalilzad reportedly traveled to Kabul to secure the exchange.

That release follows a separate deal, executed on the final day of the Biden administration and also mediated by the Qataris, which secured the releases of Ryan Corbett and William McKenty.

President Donald Trump on Saturday shared a nearly minute-long video on his Truth Social platform of Hall where she thanked him, and said she’s “so glad” he’s in office.

“Thank you for bringing me home, and I’ve never been so proud to be an American citizen,” Hall said in the video posted by Trump. “… Thank you Mr. President, and God bless you.”

“Thank you, Faye — So honored by your words!” Trump’s post read.
