DETROIT - Michigan has no shortage of big music festivals like the Detroit Jazz Fest, Electric Forest and the Breakaway Music Festival.

One music fest, however, is receiving some national accolades, ranking ahead of events like the New Orleans Jazz Festival and Austin City Limits.

Movement Electronic Music Festival in Detroit, the birthplace of techno, is ranked No. 6 in USA Today’s 10Best list of the country’s top music festivals for 2025.

The event, which is held each year over Memorial Day weekend in Detroit’s Hart Plaza, brings in tens of thousands of people from all over the world.

115 acts will perform on six different stages over three days at this year’s event.

“Featuring a loaded lineup of internationally renowned DJs, live acts, and up-and-coming artists, the festival spans six stages in the scenic Hart Plaza, each with its own distinct personality,” USA Today wrote. “Attendees can immerse themselves in cutting-edge beats, explore interactive art installations, and enjoy food and drink from local vendors.”

Electric Forest, which is not ranked on USA Today’s 2025 list, ranked No. 6 on its 2024 list.

USA Today has numerous 10Best lists which are first nominated by a panel of experts made up of editors from both USA Today and 10Best.com. The top 10 is then determined by a public vote.
