BLACKPINK member Lisa achieves Guinness World Record through first solo album LALISA

SEOUL -- LALISA, a solo album by Lisa, a Thai member of K-pop girl band BLACKPINK, was streamed more than one billion times on Spotify, the world's most popular music streaming service. The solo album which shows various Thailand's cultural assets been listed in Guinness World Records.
 
Through the album's lead single of the same name, the Thai artist presented how K-pop could be mixed with other cultures by featuring Phanom Rung Stone Castle, a temple complex in Northeastern Thailand, as well as traditional Thai dance and costumes. In her music video, Lisa wears Thailand's traditional headwear called "rat klao" and showcases traditional Thai dance. 
 
Lisa's "LALISA" music video surpassed 200 million views on YouTube within a week of its release. Following the exceptional success of Lisa's music video, Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha has praised LALISA, adding that he is ready to promote Thailand's soft power to increase its value.
 
YG Entertainment said in a statement that Lalisa was played more than one billion times, 595 days after its release in September 2021. Lisa now holds a total of seven Guinness World Record titles. The 26-year-old's other titles include the first solo K-pop artist to win MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) and K-pop artist with the most followers on Instagram. 

BLACKPINK, which debuted in 2016, is one of the most successful K-pop girl bands with more than five million album sales worldwide. In April 2023, the four-member band headlined the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, one of the largest music festivals in North America.
