Police are desperately trying to find a missing club DJ who was due to support celebrity disc-spinner Gok Wan at a music festival. David Redhead, 57, vanished from his home ground in Essex and has not been in contact with friends and family since April 15.

The DJ and MC, who also goes under the stage name MC Chalkie White, is billed to co-host a "We Are Family" music event from noon until 7pm at The Deers Rest pub and restaurant in Noak Hill Road, Romford, on May 13, with Hackney DJ and producer Ellis Dee topping the bill, and DJ Master Pasha on second billing.

Master Pasha shared a Facebook message about the missing man, from Danny Lines, a radio talk show host at Centreforce Radio. Lines wrote: "I’m asking for your help in making contact [with] or finding CDavid alkie White safe. The last contact I had with him personally was last Saturday when we spoke over the phone when I was in Tenerife — we speak every week!

"It’s not unusual for him to sometimes take some 'me time' out, but he has always made contact during that time, especially to myself and close people or family. Since last Sunday no one has heard anything at all and now we’re all getting concerned for his welfare.

"If anyone knows [of] his whereabouts I am urging you to please just let us know so we can let his family and close friends know that he is OK. Not knowing is only creating more worry.

"Can everyone please share this post and Chalkie, if you see this post my bro, please just a phone call or text to let us know you’re OK is all we need."

David is also due to put in an appearance in Arena 1 at the House and Classics Festival in Bushey Grounds in Watford on August 12, ahead of Arena 1 bill-topper Gok Wan.

David was reported missing to Essex Police on Friday, six days after his last interaction with his loved ones. He was last seen on April 21 wearing a black suit with a silver and blue tie with black smart shoes.

Detectives believe it is likely he may have changed clothes since then. He is identified on social media as being a DJ/host at venues across Essex and in London.

Social media users say he also has links to Harlow and Basildon in Essex and Dagenham, in east London. He was last known to be in Beckton, east London, on April 17. He is described as being about 6ft 4in tall and has short black hair. He normally wears a baseball cap and trainers. Police are asking if anyone sees him or knows where he is, to contact them on 101.
