CL Critic Hal Horowtiz Recommends:St. Paul & the Broken Bones’ somewhat edgy, even experimental, sometimes prickly soul headlines this all-day annual roots music event. It features strong supporting acts such as Patty Griffin, James McMurtry, The Suffers, Town Mountain, Jackson County Line, and The Sundogs. Most are headliners in their own right, making this a terrific show and an even better deal. - HH
CL Critic Jessica Goodson Recommends: Friday: The weekend kicks off with a Friday evening of free music. Folk rock band Ghoststories starts the weekend of music at the Decatur Square Gazebo, followed by Rolling Stones tribute band Tumbling Dice. Other bands will be performing near the Square at Leon’s Full Service, Brick Store Pub and Mellow Mushroom.
Saturday: The festival becomes ticketed and has a stacked lineup of famed musicians and acts starting up at 2 p.m. on the Decatur Square. Headlining St. Paul & The Broken Bones, along with Patty Griffin, James McMurtry, The Stuffers, Town Mountain, Jackson County Line, and The Sundogs. Admission to the festival for Saturday ranges from $75-$275.
Sunday: The music festival weekend winds down Sunday at cozy Waller’s Coffee Shop for an evening of Amplify Vs. Elliott Smith, featuring local singer-songwriters performing songs from the late musician’s discography. - Jessica Goodson

Amplify Decatur will also feature a series of events in and around the downtown Decatur Square on Friday, April 28 (including Tumbling Diceâ€â€The Ultimate Tribute to The Rolling Stones), and an “Amplify Vs.†show at Waller’s Coffee Shop on the evening of Sunday, April 30. Additional artists for these events will be announced in the coming weeks.
