OVERPASS Shifts To Affordable, Virtual Concert With Baekhyun, Mino, Yuna & More For Debut Date

This article is more than 3 years old.

Originally scheduled to premiere in California earlier this spring, OVERPASS will instead debut as a virtual music festival this year with a slew of EXCITING aspects to help it stand out among the influx of today’s wave of online shows.

Coming to your screens next month, OVERPASS looks to create a platform to feature international artists with an emphasis on hip-hop, R&B and neo-soul acts, particularly those representing from or with roots in Asia. Kicking off the impressive lineup is superstar soloist Baekhyun of K-pop sensation EXO, who has one of the year’s best-selling Korean albums with Delight from May. The festival also features Mino of K-pop boy band WINNER, Malaysia's superstar singer-songwriter Yuna, the soulful, relatable Thai singer Phum Viphurit, South London's quickly rising neo-soul star Joy Crookes, chart-topping Korean singer-rapper-producer GRAY, Filipino-Australian TV star-turned-music-star James Reid, the Philippines’ indie rapper-singer sensation Curtismith, and multi-talented musician and social scene-stealer SOSUPERSAM.

While virtual music festivals are increasingly popping up in the time of coronavirus concerns, OVERPASS having a specific viewpoint with the type of artists and genres they are featuring certainly helps it stand out among others to help connect with a community instead of trying to be a catch-all for the entire Internet. No doubt that could play well if the festival can indeed make its physical-event debut whenever it is safe for music festivals again.

For their one-time-only streaming event, OVERPASS promises full-staging production with each act performing full sets of approximately 20-30 minutes like an actual festival.

General admission tickets on sale for an affordable $8, with a ticket and merch bundle available for $90. A portion of proceeds will be donated to Project Hope (which helps support in COVID-19 aid, the crisis in Yemen as well as aid Lebanon), while fans can also head to OVERPASS’ website to send their own custom donation where 100 percent of funds go to the non-profit NGOs.

OVERPASS takes place on September 26, at 10:00 a.m. EST, with tickets on sale now.
