Pro Musica, under the direction of Leo Phillips, presents "Baroque Divas", a concert featuring three supremely talented guests at Siam Society, Asok Road, on Thursday at 7pm.

Italian-Thai coloratura soprano Monique Klongtruadroke, US-born Thai violinist Nipakorn Limcharoen and British violoncellist Sally Pendlebury will take part in a programme dedicated to the works of two of the greatest composers of the Baroque era: Handel and Vivaldi.

From Handel, there will be Pastoral Symphony from Messiah, Lascia Ch'io Pianga from Rinaldo, Da Tempeste Il Legno Infranto and Se Pieta' Di Me Non Senti from Giulio Cesare, and Tornami A Vagheggiar from Alcina. From Vivaldi, comes Concerto For Strings In D Minor, RV 129 "Concerto Madrigalesco", Violin Concerto in E Minor, RV 277 "Il Favorito", Domine Deus from Gloria, and In Furore Iustissimae Irae.

A top graduate from the Conservatorio di Musica Benedetto Marcello di Vanezia, Monique's international singing career has taken her across four continents. She had major roles in Buridat for Opera Siam International and the first Thai-language opera, The Lunchbox, for IHOS Opera Australia, both of which were met with enthusiastic reviews.

She has performed as Queen of the Night in various productions in the UK, Thailand and Italy. Her first collaboration with Pro Musica Bangkok was as a soloist in the historical gala memorial concert for the late King Rama IX, "The Royal Compositions Of King Bhumibol Adulyadej". She's currently based in London where she teaches and performs.

The 17-year-old Nipakorn is a student at the Yehudi Menuhin School in the UK where she has performed as a soloist, chamber musician and orchestral player. She started violin lessons at the age of four and performed in the Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall twice after becoming a prize winner at Crescendo International Music Competition and the Young Pianist Competition of New Jersey in 2007.

A Manchester native, Pendlebury recently performed all of Beethoven's cello sonatas with pianist Ian Buckle as part of the Leeds International Concert Series and gave the British premiere of Caroline Shaw's In Manus Tuas For Solo Cello at the London Spitalfields festival. Last year, she played in chamber music festivals in Germany, Scotland and England and performed recitals in Nuremberg and New York.

Tickets cost 600 baht (100 baht for students). Email info@siam-society.org and promusica.bkk@gmail.com.
