WHO ARE THEY?

The Manchester band most likely to engage your dancing feet. A seven-headed, genre-bending, groove-obsessed collective, Bethlehem Casuals have been provoking all sorts of dancefloor mayhem across Manchester over the past 18 months. Indeed, it's no surprise that the band were one of the most in-demand festival outfits over summer 2019: Latitude, MIF, Bluedot, Manchester Jazz Festival, Moovin – just a handful of the events where Bethlehem Casuals have extolled their feel-good manifesto this year.
It would be reductive, however, to simply describe Bethlehem Casuals as mere party starters. Behind the ebullience and fun factor, here is a gang of musicians with real finesse and intricacy of songcraft. A winning blend of tribal rhythms, psychedelic vocals and exultant bursts of saxophone, all refracted through the prism of dance music dynamics, Bethlehem Casuals – unlike so many of their experimental peers – never sacrifice melodic concision in their pursuit for sonic adventure.
If you're heading down to this weekend's Off The Record music festival in the Northern Quarter, make sure you put these Manc rising stars at the top of your 'must see' list (and don’t forget your dancing shoes).
