As the production team for the long-awaited Summer Sizzle is on site preparing the Jamalco Sports Club in Clarendon for today's show, the number one feeling is "suspense", according to Tamica Reynolds, one of the key players on the team.

"It is not going to be like a typical stage show, from the set-up to the performances," Reynolds told The STAR. "Not to mention it is a totally different atmosphere from previous years."

More than 30 local artistes have been billed for the two stage shows, including Aidonia, Chris Martin, Laa Lee, Tanto Blacks, D'Angel, Barrington Levy and Shane O, but the team did not reveal which artistes would be performing in the early hours or the official stage show that begins at 8 p.m.

"We just know there will be live entertainment, where Beenie Man will be present to perform more than once in the day into the night," Reynolds explained.

LASTSTAGING

It would not be complete without a special performance in the night, which, she said, will catch everybody off guard. That may just be the highlight of Summer Sizzle.

According to Reynolds, Summer Sizzle's last staging was in 2010, but the overall concept has been transformed in the eight years off the event calendar to earn the title of a music festival that persons can look forward to for years to come.

The event is expected to get into momentum at 10 a.m.

"It is essentially starting out as a family fun day, for fans and children of fans who have in turn become fans of Beenie Man throughout his 40 years in the music industry," she said.

There is a designated Kiddies Village, which promises a wide range of entertainment for the younger audience. The event has been organised to expose the work of Jamaicans in the fields of music, dance, health, visual arts, food and fashion.

Meanwhile, the 'King of Dancehall' is relishing in the support and finally being able to put together an event that is family-oriented.

"Much thanks is extended to the community and parish of Clarendon; I am feeling the vibe and looking forward to the support," said Beenie Man. "It is important that we are able to have an event that welcomes the family."

He continued: "My 40 years in music mean something to the youth on the corner and the grandma in the church, so it's important that there is something in this celebration for all of them."
