Orlando coming up diamonds at Iowa casino
NORTHWOOD, Iowa — Tony Orlando , one of the top hitmakers of the 1970s, will perform two shows July 24 at Diamond Jo Casino , near Northwood, Iowa.
Orlando, who started his career as a doo-wop singer in the early '60s, later became a record producer and songwriter before hitting it big with the vocal group Dawn— eventually recording as Tony Orlando and Dawn.
"Candida"went to No. 3 on the Billboard pop chart in 1970, followed by "Knock Three Times,"which went to No. 1 later that year, "Tie a Yellow Ribbon Round the Ole Oak Tree"(No. 1) and "Say Has Anybody Seen My Sweet Gypsy Rose,"both in 1973, and finally, "He Don't Love You (Like I Love You),"which went to No. 1 in 1975.
Orlando also hosted a popular television variety program in the '70s.

Songs of Hope kids return to Zumbrota
ZUMBROTA — Songs of Hope , a group of 50 children from countries around the world, will perform at 7 p.m. July 23 at the State Theatre , 96 E. Fourth St., Zumbrota.
This is the firth consecutive year the group has performed in Zumbrota. The students ages 9 to late teens, attend a performing arts camp in St. Paul. The youngsters learn about the culture and music of other students at the camp. They they take this music and dance to area communities and perform. The entire group performs on each song, which means that the performers are often singing in languages with which they were not previously familiar.
Students this year come from China, India, Serbia, Albania, Italy, Greece, Russia, Turkey, Vietnam, Iraq, Israel and other countries.
Admission to the concert is free.

Scott to debut songs from new album at Crossings
ZUMBROTA — Alison Scott will perform songs from her new album, "Stone Cold Love,"in a concert at 8 p.m. July 25 at Crossings at Carnegie , 320 East Ave., Zumbrota.
Scott has announced on her website that the new album will officially be released Aug. 21. It is available now for pre-order. "Stone Cold Love" is Scott's sixth studio album. This one, she said, is rooted in soul music.
The new album will include longtime fan favorites "Hallelujah"and "Honeybees,"and a new song, "Come Out Swingin,'"written in response to physical and sexual assaults on women and children.

Austin to host worship music festival July 26
AUSTIN — Worship Fest,with live music from 3 p.m. to sundown on two stages, will be held July 26 at Bandshell Community Park,Fourth Street and Ninth Place Southwest, Austin.
