Havana, April 7 (ACN) Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez arrived Monday in Honduras to participate at the 9th Summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC).
Rodriguez was welcomed at Palmerola International Airport –some 80 kilometers northwest of the capital Tegucigalpa—by Honduran deputy foreign ministers Cindy Rodriguez and Antonio Garcia, along Cuban ambassador Juan Loforte.
In statements to the local Canal 8 TV channel, the Cuban government official described as historic the bonds of friendship, cooperation and solidarity between his country and Honduras, PL news agency reported from Tegucigalpa.
Rodriguez also stressed the significance of the summit taking place on Wednesday and bringing together the heads of state and government of all 33 CELAC member nations. The regional platform is considered the major political coordination tool in Latin America and the Caribbean.
On Tuesday, the foreign ministers of the bloc will give the finishing touches the documents already discussed by the coordinators to be approved by the dignitaries, including the Declaration of Tegucigalpa.
