HAVANA, Cuba, Mar 11 (acn) The Havana World Music Festival scheduled on March 26th and 27th in Havana will have the participation of a dozen foreign and national groups.
The Fabrica de Arte Cubano Cultural Center will be the site of the event with renowned performers like Spanish Singer, composer and producer Juanito Makande, musician of traditional flamenco with funk or jazz and is considered an underground flamenco artist, reported Eme Alfonso, Artistic Director of the festival.
Also part of the event is a group of reggae with salsa by French Sargento Garcia, the regional electronic band from Mexico Centavrvs and fusion of calypso and other Caribbean genres of Kobo Town, Trinidad and Tobago/Canada.
Alfonso said that in this edition, the Latin American and Caribbean artists, many of them representatives of the new wave of alternative Latin music like VoxSambou (Haiti/Canada), Daniela Spalla (Argentina/Mexico) of the experimental fusion of Carolina Camacho of the Dominican Republic.
Cuban bass player Yelsy Heredia, drums Yissy Garcia and her project Bandancha and the Yoruba Andabo musical group will also be on hand.
The festival will also include young Cuban groups selected through the HWM First Base contest and this year two hip hop bands from Santiago de Cuba, Cuba Golpe Seko and La Alianza and the Miel con Limon group will perform.
The concerts are scheduled at 8pm at the Fabrica de Arte.
Workshops and conferences will also be held during the event to generate an exchange involving those interested in the current musical tendencies.
Sponsored by the Cuban Music Institute, Havana World Music has strengthened as one of the most popular events in Cuba's musical world where international and national groups perform for their authenticity and originality.
